Illustration is where it all began for me as a young artist that was curious about pursuing a career in visual communication. The idea that I could create artwork that is functional and viewed by an extensive audience when incorporated into design, was a very attractive proposition. I am always on the lookout for a fun illustration or info graphic job that allows my artistic side to shine.
YGS Connect “By the Numbers”
As a publication designer I was often called upon to take a turn setting up the company newsletter for The YGS Group. The newsletter always involved a quick recap of some of the things that YGS has been involved in over the recent months as well as occasional fun statistics about YGS. The info graphics are very often created with various stock illustrations modified for application in specific info graphics and accompanied by original assets.
The graphics to the right and below are a selection of graphics from several issues of the newsletter.
Wedding Invite
This is an illustration I did for my very own wedding, this is all that was on the cover, it was designed (and illustrated) to be something people wanted to keep around for a while and in many case folks would be holding onto it to have the information they needed to get to the event and if it has to sit on a shelf or stuck to a fridge, then it’s great to have something nice to look at.
The “Samson Advantage” Info Graphic Series
Samson Rope wanted a series of simple Venn diagrams to break down how the different parts of their “Samson Advantage” work together to provide longer service life for their products. I created this spiral styled Venn to give it a little different spin on the classic and better facilitate the copy to be placed within.
Firehouse Performing Arts Center - Thank You Card
This is the art features on a hand made card that was sent to a speaker manufacturer who generously donated the entire sound system for a performance space in Fairhaven WA. Featured in the piece are one of the founding members and a fellow modern dance professional.
